THE CHALLANGE

SCALABILITY BEYOND BRAND BOUNDARIES

The core challenge was to create a flexible framework capable of adapting to the unique identities of De'Longhi, Kenwood, and Nutribullet while ensuring consistency and efficiency.

The goal was to move beyond isolated design silos by building a unified structure based on Atomic Design principles and a dynamic Token System, allowing the brands to scale globally without losing their individual essence.

MY ROLE

BRIDGING DESIGN & DEVELOPMENT

In this project, I acted as a UX/UI Designer focused on translating complex brand requirements into a responsive, modular component library. I served as a strategic bridge between the creative vision and technical execution, ensuring that every element was not only aesthetically aligned with each brand but also highly optimized for development handoff.

FOCUS

A TOKEN-DRIVEN ECOSYSTEM

The backbone of the project was a robust set of design tokens governing core values like color, spacing, and typography. This allowed for seamless transitions between brand identities. I followed a pragmatic, structured process to ensure quality within tight deadlines:

1. Discovery: Full audit of existing interfaces to identify patterns and inconsistencies.

2. Definition: Establishing system scope and accessibility standards (WCAG 2.2).

3. Design
: Building flexible UI components (buttons, forms, modals) using Figma Auto Layout 4.0.

4. Validation: Continuous feedback loops with developers and CRO experts to refine interaction logic

IMPACT

RESULTS THROUGH DESIGN

The implementation of the Design System transformed the De'Longhi Group’s digital workflow, delivering measurable improvements in efficiency and global brand alignment.

Development Efficiency: Drastic reduction in code duplication and alignment issues during handoff.

Cross-Brand Consistency: A layered token structure that respects individual brand DNA within a unified system.

Future-Proofing: Centralized updates allow for global changes (e.g., a color refresh) with minimal risk and effort.

Accessibility Standard: Integration of WCAG 2.2 practices as a foundation for all digital touchpoints.

+50%

Development Speed: Drastic reduction in time-to-market for new features across the three brands.

-65%

Maintenance Costs: Significant reduction in code duplication and bug fixes through centralized updates.

+40%

Design Consistency: Improvement in visual alignment across international markets and platforms.

100%

Global Scalability: Full adoption of the design system across De’Longhi, Kenwood, and Nutribullet ecosystems.

REFLECTION

WHAT I TOOK AWAY

Working on an enterprise-level ecosystem taught me that a Design System is not just a collection of UI elements, but a functional language. I learned that digital luxury and efficiency aren't about adding complexity—they are about creating a silent, powerful infrastructure that allows the user experience to shine across every brand in the portfolio.
